General Summary: The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients. The Virtual ICU (vICU) registered nurse is a member of a collaborative care team who is responsible for providing tele-nursing care to a diverse population of critically ill adults across multiple ICUs at various hospitals.
Experience: Five years of recent experiences as a staff nurse in the specialty field of adult medical/surgical critical care.At least one year or more of past experience in a role which required effectively communicating and collaborating with health care professionals.
Education: Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of a minimum of two years education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse. Successful completion of a critical care course or equivalent.
Licensure: Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). Current ACLS Provider certification
Other skills: Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care, resolving patient care problems and dealing with patients and their families, often during stressful situations. Ability to sit continuously (up to eighty percent of work time) and view computer screens up to 100% of the time. Evidence of ability to be a team player. Proficiency with Windows based computer applications. Evidence of ability to cope well with change.
