Job Summary: Collaborates with medical and administrative leadership to provide oversight, leadership, vision and systems approach for the development of diabetes care systems and processes. Monitors effectiveness of program services in accordance with the hospital's objectives, policies and procedures as well as the guidelines established by the Diabetes Advisory Board and American Diabetes Association National Standards for Diabetes Education Programs. Assists Manager in the development and direction of services rendered. Applies principles of leadership and human relations in the supervision and coordination of patient care and personnel. Maintains clinic and program specific standards of practice based on current literature and professional standards. May be delegated responsibilities in the absence of the Manager.
Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead the development of diabetes protocols and systems for achieving glycemic control based on a clear understanding of best practice, patient data, scientific principles, pharmacology, and disease pathophysiology. Program management experience required. Three years of leadership experience required. Six sigma or LEAN experience preferred.
Education: Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing required.
Special Skills: Analytical skills and CQI experience to develop recommendations and assist in implementing improved diabetes care delivery systems, clinical pathways, policies and procedures, evaluate practice, and develop solutions to identified concerns.
Licensure: Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact); Certification within a clinical specialty area and Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Board Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) is required. Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM, APRN) for advanced practice by the American Nurses Association is preferred. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 30 days of hire.
