Title: Advanced Practice Educator
Program: MJHS Hospice and Palliative Care
Nursing - Home Care Hospice
This employee will function as an advanced practice nurse educator and clinician. The individual is responsible for working with senior management to develop educational priorities for clinical staff, developing specific curriculums for clinical education, and implementing both didactic and experiential educational programming. Education will be focused on best practices in palliative care and hospice, and on quality improvement priorities. The targets of education may be any clinical staff in any treatment venue. The employee will work with senior leadership, managers and our quality coordinators to ensure clinical competency training programs are implemented. This individual also will assist with the ongoing education classes in preparation for staff to sit for the mandatory certification boards, and support the clinical and business development leadership by assisting with the educational needs and requirements in our contracted facilities. He/she will collaborate with nursing and physician leadership to initiate and support clinical practice development, research and to serve as a change agent to promote and enhance quality patient care.. The role also will include ongoing clinical responsibilities as directed and a focus on HMD new orientation development and education.

Masters degree in nursing. Minimum 5 years experience working in the field of Hospice and/or Palliative Care. New York State licensure as Nurse Practitioner. National Board Certification in Hospice & Palliative Care preferred or certification will be obtained within one year of hire. Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft word, excel and e-mail.
