Job Summary: The Nursing Informatics Specialist will support the Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) across the Cancer Service Line. This position will combine clinical knowledge, skills, and experience with technical and informatics skills and experience to support and optimize the Epic EMR through development of tools, refinement of workflows, and direct support to clinical users of the EMR. The incumbent will work closely with physicians, nurse managers, staff, and other Informatics Team members to maximize efficient and effective use of Epic to help improve patient care, user satisfaction, clinical productivity and quality outcomes.
Nursing Informatics is the specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge into nursing / clinical practice. Under general supervision, this role facilitates the integration of data, information, and knowledge to support patients, nurses, and other providers in their decision making in all roles and settings.
Education: Associate degree in Nursing is required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
Experience: Two to four years of experience as a Systems Analyst or Informatics Specialist is required. Experience working in the health care information industry is required. Clinical experience in a Cancer Care environment, and experience using and or managing an Epic EMR (EpicCare Ambulatory or Beacon modules) is highly preferred.
Licensure: Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact).
