Reports to Nursing Manager of 6 East Dept. of Nursing. Consultation and supervision is provided to the NP by the attending physician and/or designee during the patient care management component of the role. NP directs the health care management of BMT patients and provides emergency care. Also functions independently with other health care team members and departments to provide optimum care to his/her patients. The NP shall provide supervision of training nurse practitioners, students, consults with other health team members caring for HemeOnc service patients at their request and shall participate in research. Advises family, initiates referrals based on family needs. Provides formal and informal in-service education for staff and conducts nursing care rounds. The NP conducts QA review of selected aspects of the BMT service.

REQUIREMENTS: A registered professional nurse with clinical expertise in BMT nursing who has completed a formal educational program, which includes supervised clinical experience in the management of BMT patients and their families. Successful completion of a Master's Degree in nurse practitioner program.
NPI 6 mo or less of NP experience, NPII Greater than 6 mo of experience as NP.
