Description

15 bed level III NICU. Infants in this unit may require ventilation with conventional, jet, oscillator, or NCPAP ventilation. Nitric Oxide may also be used in this unit. PDA ligation, laser eye surgery for ROP and bronchoscopy are a few procedures that are performed in the NICU. Procedures not performed are ECMO and cardiac invasive procedure or surgery. This unit has a transport team to facilitate acceptance of Level II & III infants from the Las Vegas Valley and surrounding states. Safe Patient Handling Equipment located on each unit or available to each to unit to assist staff to safely and appropriately mobilize patients including repositioning in bed, ambulating, lateral transferring or transferring to chair/commode.

Job Summary:
The NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist is accountable for promoting excellence in clinical nursing practice and is responsible for knowledge driven outcomes management, advanced clinical practice, education to staff, patient, family and community. The NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist performs patient evaluations, counsels patients / families and collaborates with physicians and other members of the health care team to provide other appropriate direct care interventions. The inpatient population within our NICU Nursing Services program consists primarily of premature newborns and term neonates with complicating conditions.

Experience
Minimum - Three to five years RN clinical experience in NICU nursing with education emphasis.

Education
Minimum - BSN Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Masters Degree (MBA or MSN or MHA).

Training
Assaultive Behavior Course within 30 days.

Special Skills
Strong program development, research and analytical skills. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to utilize the electronic medical record Must demonstrate knowledge of keyboard/mouse abilities and navigation of Windows. Must be able to communicate effectively. Ability to form and manage teams. Flexible in scheduling. Demonstrates organizational skills and strong leadership ability. Ability to work on multiple hospital campuses.

Licensure
Required: RN = Registered Nurse in State of NV
CT CPRBLS = Current Basic Life Support CPR
CT NRP = Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification
STABLE = Current Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, and Emotional Support Program Certification.
