The University of Maryland Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced, master's prepared RN to join our team to provide clinical practice leadership in the role of Clinical Practice & Education Specialist (CP&ES) for our 24 bed Pediatric ICU/CICU/IMC. The Children's Hospital is experiencing dramatic growth in several programs including care for cardiac patients and the launch of ECMO.
The CP&ES assists to develop nurses to work in today's environment while expanding the nursing practice for tomorrow through linking evidence-based practice to relevant research and best practice standards. He/she utilizes those principles to plan educational programming for nurses who are at various developmental levels in practice from novice to expert.
The PICU CP&ES: Coordinates nursing orientation and didactic classes during orientation. Assesses and translates the educational needs of PICU nurses and implements educational activities, programs, and inservice education relevant to their learning needs and organizational goals. Serves as an expert clinical resource to the staff. Provides support to PICU and division leadership in ensuring excellence in clinical care, patient care and clinical practice.
A Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing or related field is required. Course work in education is preferred. Current \ State of Maryland/ compact state licensure or eligibility is required. A minimum of five years clinical experience in PICU, with Pediatric CSICU experience desirable. At least one year in a role performing staff education is preferred.
