Job Description:The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 13 bed unit that is aquaternary care referral center for 4 states that cares for patients from 45 weeks corrected gestational ageup to young adults. The PICU patients have a number of interesting conditions including septic shock, solid organ transplant (liver, intestine, and kidney), advanced bone marrow transplant, neurosurgery and other pediatric surgeries. Specialized care provided in the PICU includes ECMO/ECLS (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation/Extracorporeal Life support), continuous renal replacement therapy, liver dialysis, nitric oxide and ICP monitoring. The PICUisan all RN staff whowork closely with respiratory therapists, nutritionists, social workers, pharmacists and physicians to care for these critically ill children. The physical environment is made of mostly single rooms with a parent space (including a place to sleep in the room) that allows families to be present and partner in the care of their child. Provides leadership, clinical expertise, education, program development, and consultation to promote the standards of nursing practice.  Works collaboratively with management and other leadership to develop criteria for patient care, assess health needs of patients, and evaluate nursing interventions to achieve optimal nursing practice outcomes. Facilitates problem solving and decision making to influence the development, implementation and evaluation of patient, unit, and departmental goals.  Position responsibilities vary with patient population, unit and department needs, and organizational priorities.

Requirements:

Required Education/Experience:

  • Master’s in Nursing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit RN experience. 

Required Credentials:

  • State of Washington RN License. 
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required within 90 days of hire

 

Preferred: 

  • Previous CNS experience.
  • National Certification in Specialty Area
