Dallas, Texas: NPR 10;00am to 3:00 PM at Majorsbooks in Dallas, Texas

NPR April 19, 2013 from 10 am to 3 pm at Majorsbooks 2137 Butler Street Dallas, Texas 75235 NRP Provider Course is for all participants wishing to register for a Provider course, or a renewal course. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is an education program of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Heart Association (AHA) that teaches concepts and skills of neonatal resuscitation. Our learners study the Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation, 6th Edition, 2011 (or view the DVD-ROM that accompanies the textbook) and pass the online examination (written test) prior to attending any NRP course. This allows much of the scheduled course time to be used for hands-on practice and simulation. Emphasis is placed on increasing self-efficacy, managing the unexpected, and supporting the efforts and contributions of each team member. Our NRP courses are designed to cover all nine lessons in the textbook; however, participants may receive credit for the course by completing the minimum course requirement which is Lessons 1 through 4 and Lesson 9. This is often the case for licensed midwives or midwifery students, or other healthcare professionals who are not responsible for performing or assisting with intubation or medication administration. Check your institution's policy if you are not sure of your NRP course requirement. All participants must demonstrate resuscitation skills covered in Lessons 1 through 4 and identify all decision points of the NRP algorithm. Course participants who do not have job responsibilities for procedures such as intubation or umbilical venous catheter placement may learn about and demonstrate these procedures to enhance their learning experience if they complete testing for Lessons 1 through 9. NRP does not certify the learner to perform any technique, does not imply competence to perform neonatal resuscitation, and does not determine the participant’s scope of practice. This course is not recommended for those who have little or no experience in a birth setting. NRP online examination instructions: You will receive a registration confirmation email that includes instructions for accessing the online examination. Your registration fee includes the cost of one examination. If any section of the exam is failed twice, the AAP requires that the entire examination be retaken. You must pass and print completions certificate for lessons 1-4 and 9 of the online test. Course completion: This is a hands-on interactive course. To successfully pass the course, the learner must: Produce the Verification of Completion document from the NRP online examination (written test) on course day Demonstrate neonatal resuscitation skills (minimum Lessons 1 through 4 in the textbook) Demonstrate the NRP resuscitation flow diagram in correct sequence (use NRP textbook pages 299-302 [Integrated Skills Performance Checklist, Basic or Advanced] as your guide) Upon successful completion, participants are granted an NRP Course Completion Card, which designates NRP Provider status. Provider status is current for two years. Everyone takes the NRP Provider Course In accordance with NRP 6th edition curriculum changes, we no longer offer an NRP Renewal course. Everyone takes the NRP Provider Course. The NRP Provider Course is intended for those participants who are taking an NRP course for the first time and for those whose NRP Provider card has expired, as well as for those whose NRP Provider status needs a 2-year renewal. For information about NRP course eligibility, content or format, contact Catherine Brinkley RN (337) 238-8501 or by email at admin@savingamericanhearts.com.
