Brookhaven Offers EBP/Stroke Seminar Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, Patchogue, NY, is offering a 4-hour stroke continuing education program called Evidence-Based Practice Improving Stroke Outcomes. The CE program is available to nurses who are members of a stroke team who wish to meet the state Department of Health CE requirements for Designated Stroke Centers. The program, lead by Karen L. Hassmiller, Senior Advisor for Nursing at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation will discuss the nursing workforce in the new millennium at the University of Washington School of Nursing’s annual public lecture on Feb. 23. The school’s 30th annual Elizabeth Sterling Soule Endowed Lecture, “Creating a 21st Century Workforce: What Will it Take?” is free and open to the public. The lecture will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Kane Hall, Room 120, on the UW campus. Registration is requested; please see below. Effective transitional care ensures that there is coordinated health care when patients or clients transfer between different locations or different levels of care in the same location. This training day will address methods to ensure smooth transitions and common pitfalls in transitional care.
